Shielding from Covid-19

YOU MAY NOT GO OUT…
Summer’s still singing,
Buzzards still circling,
Cuckoos cuckooing,
Sky still widening,
Clouds still stretching
As the day goes down.

YOU MAY NOT GO OUT…
Your garden’s shrinking,
House still crowding,
Walls are reducing,
You can’t stop thinking,
Still full-springing
As the day goes down.

YOU MAY NOT GO OUT…
No-one’s calling,
Friends still phoning,
Lap-top still working,
Your eyes start aching,
Brain vegetating
As the day goes down.

YOU MAY NOT GO OUT…
World is still turning,
News is still playing,
You are still hoping:
Flesh and blood meeting!
Else you’ll be crazy
When the day goes down.
